Important Information

Water leaks
Overage  charges for water leaks can run into many hundreds of dollars.  Leaks  can occur any time of year, but are more likely to occur in the winter,  when pipes are vulnerable to freezing.  Members who spend long periods  away from their property may not discover a leak until days or even  weeks after it begins.  If you plan to be away, especially during  winter, it's a good idea to shut off your water as a precaution.  Please  contact our business office (209-295-3987) if you need help with this.

The Red Cross maintains a page with information on how to prevent pipes from freezing.

Winterizing: As  mentioned above, it’s a good idea to shut off the water to your house  if you plan to be gone for an extended period of time in the winter. If  you do this, it’s important to turn off your hot water heater, and also  any recirculating pump if your home is equipped with one. You should  also open a faucet at the lowest level of your home.

We also recommend that you leave the heat on in your house, at a low level, to prevent interior pipes from freezing.

If  you have irrigation pipes outside of your home, you should open them up  at one end and use a compressor to blow compressed air through them to  get as much of the water out as possible.

If you are away from  home and want us to turn off your water, call our business office at  209-295-3987. Of course, we cannot be responsible for any damage that  results, if for example you have not turned off your hot water heater.
